2013 Illinois Governor's Sustainability Awards and Technical Symposium

Event Date:

Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in East Peoria, IL

Since 1987, the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) has presented Governor's awards to organizations in Illinois that have demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through outstanding and innovative sustainability practices. Sustainable technology encompasses any technique or technology that reduces the amount of and/or toxicity of pollutants that would have otherwise been released into the environment. Sustainability includes processes such as raw material and solvent substitution, preventive maintenance programs, beneficial reuse of by-products, waste reduction and recycling, and implementation of programs that support pollution prevention (e.g. ISO 14001).

For the 2nd consecutive year, in addition to the 2013 Governor’s Sustainability Award presentation, the Governor is excited to present the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact Awards. The award ceremony and technical symposium is being held October 29, 2013 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in East Peoria, IL. Public and private universities and colleges that have fulfilled the Illinois Campus Sustainability Compact, a program of the Illinois Green Governments Coordinating Council, will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments along with the 2013 Governor’s Sustainability Award winners.

The cost to attend the Award Ceremony is $50 per person and includes lunch. There is no cost to attend the symposium, which includes continental breakfast.
