Durante los años 90, los países centroamericanos experimentaron una serie de reformas en el sector eléctrico a través de las cuales se crearon nuevas instituciones y se implementaron nuevas medidas regulatorias. Sin embargo, todavía se persiguen unas condiciones óptimas de mercado apoyadas por instituciones que promuevan el desarrollo de las energías renovables.

¿Qué reformas son necesarias para crear políticas e instituciones que apoyen las energías renovables en Centroamérica? 

During the 1990’s, countries in the region experienced market reform of the electricity sector in which new institutions were created and regulations introduced. However, the development of the right market conditions and strong institutions to increase renewable energy adoption are still in the making.

What specific reforms are needed to create stronger policies and institutions to support renewable energy in Central America?
