L. Russell Bennett Joins Worldwatch Institute Board of Directors

Washington D.C.—The Worldwatch Institute announced today that L. Russell Bennett has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Bennett resides in Sullivan's Island, South Carolina, where he is co-owner of Poe's Tavern, a popular beachside restaurant, and Aspen, Colorado, where he raises Alpacas. Mr. Bennett retired from the practice of law in 2000 and is now engaged primarily in real estate investment and development.

"We are pleased to welcome Mr. Bennett to our Board, and we look forward to working with him to further strengthen the Institute," said Øystein Dahle, Chairman of the Worldwatch Institute Board of Directors.

Mr. Bennett was a founder and managing partner with the Charleston-based law firm of Davidson & Bennett, and a member of the American Bar Association as well as the South Carolina Bar Association. Mr. Bennett received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the College of Charleston and a J.D. degree form the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was a founding board member of Darkness to Light, a Charleston-based national nongovernmental organization (NGO) dealing in the awareness of childhood sexual abuse, and is currently the chairman of Wings for Kids, an NGO that teaches social and emotional learning in an after school environment (also based in Charleston).
