Worldwatch President to Keynote Biofuels Investors Summit

On September 17, Worldwatch Institute president Christopher Flavin will keynote the 2nd Annual Biofuels Investors Summit in Chicago, Illinois, an appearance that coincides with the release of Biofuels for Transport: Global Potential and Implications for Energy and Agriculture. This landmark book, authored by Worldwatch and published by Earthscan, is a comprehensive assessment of the opportunities and risks associated with the large-scale international development of biofuels.

The Biofuels Investors Summit is designed to provide investors an opportunity to better understand the opportunities and risks inherent in the growing markets for ethanol and biodiesel, as well as the “next generation” of biofuels technologies that are fast gaining recognition in the industry. Mr. Flavin’s speech will focus on the need to improve the sustainability of the biofuels industry and to reduce its impact on land and water resources.

Other speakers include The Honorable Alexander Karsner, the Assistant Secretary of Energy, and representatives from the finance, agriculture, and auto industries.
