Thomas Prugh is editor of World Watch magazine and co-director of the Worldwatch Institute report State of the World 2008. After completing his education at The American University in Washington, D.C., Tom worked in corrections, drug and alcohol treatment and education, public relations, and publications management. Before joining Worldwatch in 2002, he served as an editor and task manager at the Energy Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Tom’s work has appeared in a wide range of periodicals, including the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs, Monthly Energy Review, The Electricity Journal, The Environmental Almanac, Yes!, and the Los Angeles Times. His writing for World Watch includes “What Is Sustainability, Anyway?” co-authored with Erik Assadourian. Tom is the lead author of two books: The Local Politics of Global Sustainability and Natural Capital and Human Economic Survival.
