What exactly is fermenting in that glass of wine?

Are those beautiful flowers laden with pollen or pesticides?

Should you choose organic apples from Australia or standard ones from New York State?

Prominent environmental authors Amy Stewart and Brian Halweil will discuss the importance and benefits of local and organic produce. The program will also include special guests from Vineyard Brands, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, and Community Markets.

Brian Halweil is a Senior Researcher at Worldwatch Institute. Brian started at the Institute in 1997 as the John Gardner Public Service Fellow from Stanford University. His focus of research has been on growing organic and buying local produce. The author of Eat Here, Brian's work has been featured in the L.A. Times, Christian Science Monitor, Washington Post, and New York Times, and on NPR and Voice of America.

Amy Stewart is the author of New York Times bestseller Flower Confidential: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful in the Business of Flowers as well as From the Ground Up: The Story of a First Garden and The Earth Moved: On the Remarkable Achievements of Earthworms. Ms. Stewart’s writing has appeared in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Garden Design and Organic Gardening. She has been featured on NPR, Good Morning America and CBS Sunday Morning.
