Climate Law & Policy Project (CLPP) and Many Strong Voices (MSV) are co-sponsoring a briefing entitled "A Call for Stronger Targets: Protecting the World's Vulnerable Communities."  The event's focus is the need to secure a global agreement that includes stronger emission reduction targets than those being called for by the Obama Administration as a necessary means to prevent dangerous climate impacts on vulnerable communities in the Arctic and Small Island Developing States.

Speakers include:

Chris Flavin, President, Worldwatch Institute, will discuss the scientific imperative to establish and achieve ambitious emission reduction targets.

Sheila Watt-Cloutier, Inuit advocate and 2007 Nobel Peace Prize nominee, will provide insight into the devastating changes that are occurring in Inuit communities throughout Alaska and Canada.

Rolph Payet, Special Advisor to the President of the Seychelles, will present another perspective on the human dimensions of climate change, discussing the impacts on the Seychelles and other Small Island Developing States.

Lester Brown, President, Earth Policy Institute, will discuss the urgency of the problems caused by global warming, and explain why we must reach a steep mid-term target.
