Courtney Berner is Director of Individual Giving at the Worldwatch Institute. She joined the Institute in 2004, shortly after moving to Washington, D.C., and has worked in a variety of roles, including media and outreach, event planning, and most recently fundraising and outreach.

Courtney attended Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where she majored in biology, French, and environmental studies. She completed two senior research projects, one on the shrimp aquaculture industry and the other on the influence of haute cuisine on the emergence of the restaurant in France. After graduation, she moved to Rennes, France, where she spent a year working as a Fulbright Teaching Assistant. Courtney is currently earning a certificate in holistic health counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Teacher's College at Columbia University in New York City.

An Oregon native, Courtney loves to explore the outdoors by bike, horse, snowshoe, and boat and tries to make it back to the Pacific Northwest as often as possible. She enjoys travel, reading, practicing her French, and doing virtually anything involving good food (especially cooking and visiting her local farmers market).
