Globalization and Governance
Globalization poses enormous environmental dangers, from the spread of invasive species to global warming, but it also offers important opportunities, such as the use of the Internet to spur cross-border activism and the diffusion of environmentally beneficial technologies. The Institute's Global Governance Project works to strengthen the role of international institutions and policies in promoting sustainable development. The project is exploring how the world's environmental treaties can be structured to work in concert, how institutions of trade and finance can support environmentally sustainable development, and how strong partnerships can be forged between non-governmental organizations, businesses, national governments, and international institutions.
