Adam Dolezal, Research Associate, Climate & Energy Program
As research associate in the Climate & Energy Program at Worldwatch, Adam is working to develop renewable energy strategies for Central America. The significance and impact of renewable energy became apparent through his work on developing off-grid solar electric systems in rural provinces of Sierra Leone in 2008. Prior to coming to Worldwatch, Adam was project manager and business development consultant for a Washington DC based solar energy company. Adam was also program coordinator with Global Explorers where he organized and led educational field workshops for blind students to Latin America and Africa. He has studied and worked in various countries in Central and South America since 1997; participating in numerous ecology workshops in the Amazon of Peru, conducting anthropological research with indigenous groups in Ecuador, and examining human rights in Honduras.
Adam has a B.A. in International Affairs and Modern Languages with a focus on Latin America, an M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology with an emphasis in international development and post-colonial studies and a second M.A. in Human Rights and International Environmental Law from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. Adam is interested in the environmental sustainability of renewables and the extent to which distributed generation can be socially and economically self-determined.
