Cinthya Alfaro, Worldwatch/INCAE Research Fellow
Cinthya Alfaro Zúñiga served as Impacts Manager for E+Co from May 2010 to May 2012, after completing the one-year abroad German-government sponsored “International Leadership Training: Managing Development in the Renewable Energy Sector” program. As Impacts Manager Cinthya worked mainly with donor and investor relationships as well as with all activities regarding the next evolution of E+Co’s Monitoring and Evaluation Department. Prior to E+Co and the ILT program in Germany, from 2006 until 2009 Cinthya worked as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for E+Co Capital, where she was responsible for ensuring social and environmental risk assessment, due diligence and compliance with the CAREC Fund’s social and environmental guidelines.
Cinthya first became acquainted with E+Co Capital/E+Co while serving as the Regional Environmental Analyst for US Department of State’s Regional Environmental Hub for Central America and the Caribbean, in San Jose, Costa Rica. Since 2004 and in this position, Alfaro dealt with a vast range of environmental, health, technology and science issues and their relation to the U.S. and regional policy. Cinthya started her profession in the environmental and social arena as Program Assistant to The Nature Conservancy’s Costa Rica Program, as well as with some voluntary field work. Alfaro holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography with an interdisciplinary major in Environmental Studies from Florida State University and a Masters in Project Management degree from the University for International Cooperation in Costa Rica.
